Pakistan’s Sufi maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was awarded an honorary degree by the University of Oxford at a ceremony called ‘Encaenia’ on June 26 2019.
The Sufi singer is among eight people who was awarded honorary degrees at the ceremony. The university described Khan as a “Pakistani singer, primarily of Qawwali, a devotional music of the Muslim Sufis.”. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was presented with the degree of Doctor of Music at a ceremony this summer.

Pakistan is among the top 20 gainers on the World Hapess index this year, ranked at 67th place, a jump of eight spots from last year’s ranking at 75.
The United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network’s annual World Hapess Report ranked 156 countries based on six indicators: income per capita, life expectancy, social support, freedom, generosity and corruption.
Finland was once again ranked as the happiest country in the world. Denmark, Norway and Iceland clinched the second, third and fourth positions, respectively. South Sudan took the last spot in the ranking.
