Darren Julius Garvey Sammy, OBE (born 20 December 1983) is a Saint Lucian cricketer who played international cricket for the West Indies. He is a two time T20 World Cup winning captain. He plays as a right-handed batsman and a fast-medium bowler. The Japanese man Chitetsu Watanabe who received his certificate as the world’s oldest man with a raised fist and big smiles earlier this month has died at 112. Guinness World Records confirmed Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020 he had died Sunday.
Guinness World Records had given the certificate to Chitetsu Watanabe on Feb. 12. The organization and the funeral home handling his services confirmed Tuesday he had died Sunday. No cause was given.
According to Guinness World Records, The oldest living person (male) is Chitetsu Watanabe (Japan, b. 5 March 1907), who is 112 years and 344 days old, as verified in Joetsu, Niigata, Japan, on 12 February 2020.
Chitetsu was born in Niigata, Japan and Chitetsu worked at an agricultural office – a branch of the Niigata Prefectural office – until retirement. He was a sweet tooth, and has been passionate about bonsai .
Previously World’s oldest man was Masazo Nonaka, who died in Japan aged 113 on 21st January 2019. Mr Nonaka was born on July 25, 1905, two years after the Wright Brothers celebrated the first power-driven flight and just months before Einstein published his theory of relativity.
